I created a 75-min workshop on transforming undergraduate research experiences with my amazing collaborators @BiancaBarajasSalazar and @JohnEspinosa.

What we covered:

• Bridging the gap between society & scientific research
• Our microbiome CURE lab using Exaiptasia diaphana (shoutout to my advisor Dr. Maggie Sogin!) where students isolate bacteria, sequence genomes & work toward publishing their own MRA papers
• Evidence-based learning theories for STEM education (Bianca 🙌)
• Data-driven impact of CUREs on student identity & success (John 💯)
• Interactive “Game of Undergraduate Research” activity that had people literally sitting on the floor to participate!

The energy was incredible. Thank you to everyone who came, engaged, and believed in making research more accessible for underrepresented students.
